I met with Scott in the winter of 2018, and we developed a plan for his upcoming disability hearing in Portland Oregon. I appeared with Scott in January of 2019, at his disability hearing in downtown Portland.
Scott testified that his severe interstitial cystitis had ruined his life. He said he spent more time at the hospital than at home. He further elaborated that the interstitial cystitis was just one of many issues that affect his life. He told the judge that he felt that the combination of the interstitial cystitis, plantar fasciitis, back pain, depression, and anxiety made it impossible to work at his past job as a retail assistant manager at a Portland Walgreens.
When questioned further by the judge, Scott stated that he did not think he could sustain any job given his conditions as he is incredibly inconsistent and unreliable. Scott concluded his testimony by reporting that his sister, Sara, has to check on him multiple times a day and come over to help with chores and shopping.
The judge listened to Scott’s testimony and found that the evidence that I obtained from Scott’s medical providers was compelling and believable. The judge further explained that the interstitial cystitis opinion that I received from Scott’s urologist was convincing. Scott was approved for Social Security Disability.
